Ingredients
  

For the meatballs

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Adds the perfect texture.

  • 1 large egg Binds everything together.

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano Classic herb that complements meat.
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil Lends a wonderful freshness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Adds a subtle kick.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese The delicious surprise inside each meatball.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For greasing the baking sheet.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Tangy and rich to serve with the meatballs.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional for a little heat.
  • fresh basil leaves for garnish Adds a burst of color and freshness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking sheet with olive oil.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly incorporated.
  • Form the meat mixture into small balls, flattening them in your palm, placing about 1 tablespoon of mozzarella cheese in the center, and sealing it inside.
  • Roll the meatball into a smooth ball and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining mixture.

Cooking

  • Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat; add red pepper flakes if desired and let simmer for 5–7 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the baked meatballs warm in the marinara sauce and finish with fresh basil leaves for garnish.
  • Enjoy as is or serve over spaghetti for an extra indulgent experience.

Notes

For best flavor, use high-quality ground beef. Mix in grated onion for additional moisture. Meatballs can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge.
