  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions to add a fresh crunch and brightness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cook the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain the fat.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, combine sour cream and softened cream cheese, mixing until smooth.
  • Combine cooked egg noodles with the sour cream mixture until evenly coated.
  • Grease a baking dish and layer the noodle mixture, followed by the beef mixture. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and chopped green onions.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and the cheese is golden brown.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Consider adding red pepper flakes for a kick or introducing fresh vegetables for a nutritional boost. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter for a crunchier topping. Use turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
