  • 2 large eggs Binds the mixture.
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar Creates a tender crumb.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Infuses flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, black cocoa powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and white vinegar. Add a few drops of black food coloring.

Baking

  • Gradually pour the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Perform the toothpick test. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Frosting

  • Once cooled, frost with your preferred frosting and serve.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. Avoid over-mixing the batter.
