  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F) Activates the yeast perfectly
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened Brings richness to the dough
  • 1 large egg Adds moisture and binds the ingredients
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract Infuses warmth and flavor

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed For a deep caramel-like sweetness
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon The star spice giving these rolls their signature flavor
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted For spreading, making the filling decadent

Icing Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened For a rich and creamy icing
  • 2 cups powdered sugar For sweetness and creaminess in the frosting
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the icing's flavor
  • 2 tbsp milk Ensures the perfect consistency

Instructions

Preparation

  • Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Stir until the yeast dissolves and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until bubbly and foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until thoroughly combined.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and allow it to rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle (approximately 16×12 inches).
  • Spread melted butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and slice it into 12 equal pieces. Place them in the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and aromatic.

Icing

  • In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread the icing on warm rolls after they have cooled slightly.

Notes

Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to prevent killing the yeast. For deeper flavor, let dough rise in the refrigerator overnight. You may add nuts or raisins to the filling for added texture.
