Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, dill pickle relish, creamy mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Gently mix until just combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty, ensuring they’re slightly larger than the buns.

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Place the patties on the hot surface and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • During the last minute of cooking, lay a slice of American cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assembly

  • Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun and topping with fresh lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and additional pickles. Finish with the top bun.

Notes

For the best results, use quality ground beef and avoid overmixing the meat. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the burger reaches 160°F for safe cooking. Common mistakes include overcooking patties or pressing down on them while cooking.
