Glaze Ingredients

  • 0.5 cups heavy cream Forms the base of the glaze.
  • 0.25 cups sugar Sweetens the glaze.
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract Flavors the glaze.
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter Enhances the glaze.
  • 0.25 cups brown sugar (for topping) Creates the caramelized topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently, avoiding overmixing.
  • Fill each cavity of the donut pan with batter, about 2/3 full.

Baking

  • Bake the donuts for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the donuts cool slightly.

Preparing the Glaze

  • Heat the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the butter until smooth.

Glazing and Caramelizing

  • Dip each donut into the glaze and allow excess to drip off.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar on top and caramelize using a kitchen torch until golden.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Experiment with flavor variations. If you lack a kitchen torch, use a broiler carefully.
