  • 1 pinch salt

For the Mix-Ins

  • 0.5 cup red velvet cake crumbs Pre-baked or from leftover cake.
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips Or shaved chocolate.

For Garnishing

  • Extra cake crumbs or chocolate drizzle Optional for serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, and cocoa powder until the sugar is dissolved and the cocoa is smooth.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is well chilled.

Churning

  • Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually 20–25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  • During the last 2–3 minutes of churning, gently fold in the red velvet cake crumbs and mini chocolate chips.

Freezing and Serving

  • Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container, smooth the top, and freeze for at least 3–4 hours until firm.
  • Scoop into bowls or cones and top with extra cake crumbs or a drizzle of chocolate sauce before serving.

To elevate your ice cream, use high-quality cocoa and chocolate chips. Optional mix-ins like nut butter or caramel can enhance flavor. Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
