  • 6 tablespoons creamy, unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat for added fiber.
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar May reduce using honey or maple syrup for a healthier option.
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Can substitute with nutmeg or omit.
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling Fresh cherries can also be used; adjust sugar as necessary.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt the 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Pour the melted butter into the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish.

Mixing

  • In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2/3 cup of granulated sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • Gradually add 1 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, mixing until you have a smooth batter.

Baking

  • Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring.
  • Gently spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the top.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
  • Let the cobbler cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider whole wheat flour and natural sweeteners. Avoid overmixing for the best texture. Allow the cobbler to cool to enhance flavors.
