Ingredients

Beef and Marinade

  • 1 pound flank steak rich in flavor and great for stir-frying
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce for that umami punch
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch ensures that beef is tender and the sauce clings perfectly

Cooking Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (canola or your choice), for that perfect sear
  • 2 cups broccoli florets bright green and packed with vitamins
  • 1 cup shredded carrots bringing sweetness and color
  • 1 cup snow peas adding a delightful crunch
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced for its sweetness and vibrant color
  • 1 green onion sliced adding a hint of sharpness

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce deepening the umami flavor
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar lending a touch of sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder for aromatic depth
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger giving it a zesty kick

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds adding a nutty finish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the flank steak thinly across the grain into 1/2 inch thick, 2-inch long strips. Place in a bowl and marinate with soy sauce and cornstarch for at least 30 minutes.

Making the Sauce

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, and ground ginger to create a flavorful sauce.

Cooking the Beef

  • Heat the cooking oil in a skillet or wok over high heat. Cook half of the marinated beef for about 3 minutes until seared, then remove and repeat with the remaining beef.

Stir-Frying the Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, stir-fry the broccoli, carrots, snow peas, and red bell pepper for about 2 minutes, until tender but still crisp.

Combining

  • Add the cooked beef back, pour the prepared sauce over the mix, and stir to combine. Heat for an additional 1-3 minutes to meld flavors.

Garnishing and Serving

  • Top with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve over rice, noodles, or even potatoes.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the beef longer if possible. This dish is great for meal prep, storing in airtight containers, and reheating.
