  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chunks and crushed peppermint candies.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and centers remain slightly soft.
  • Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting

  • In a bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
