Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20) For optimal flavor and juiciness.
  • 2 large onions, sliced into thick rings About ½ inch thick.
  • 4 slices cheese (American, Swiss, or your favorite) For melting on top of the patties.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional condiments (mustard, ketchup) For serving.
  • Olive oil or cooking spray For grilling.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Coat with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Slice the onions into thick rings, approximately ½ inch thick.
  • Season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into patties slightly larger than the onion rings.

Cooking

  • Place the onion rings on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden-brown.
  • Grill the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, flip, and top each with a slice of cheese. Cook until desired doneness.

Assembly

  • Begin with an onion ring, add a beef patty with melted cheese on top, and finish with another onion ring.

Serving

  • Serve hot with optional condiments.

Notes

Experiment with spices and onion varieties for added flavor. Grilling at a higher heat locks in juices. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
