  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For frosting.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and Valentine’s-themed sprinkles or M&Ms.
  • Line a heart-shaped pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Spread the cookie dough into the pan evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
  • Let the cookie cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting & Decoration

  • To make the frosting, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Add vanilla extract, heavy cream, and food coloring (if desired).
  • Once the cookie cake has cooled completely, frost it with the buttercream frosting and decorate with additional sprinkles, M&Ms, or edible glitter if desired.
