Preparation

  • Place hulled and sliced strawberries into a medium bowl.
  • Sprinkle granulated sugar over the berries and gently toss together.
  • Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes until juices are released.

Cooking

  • Add lemon juice and vanilla extract to the strawberries.
  • If desired, dissolve the cornstarch in water and stir into the mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes.
  • Allow the mixture to bubble and thicken, then remove from heat and let cool.

Notes
