Cheese Mixture

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese Creamy and rich, bringing smoothness to each layer.

Other Ingredients

  • 12 cooked lasagna noodles Layers that are essential to the structure.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping) Creates a golden, bubbly crust.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low for about 10 minutes.

Assembly

  • In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, egg, and fresh parsley. Mix until smooth.
  • In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a small amount of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer with 4 noodles, 1/3 of the cheese mixture, and 1/3 of the meat sauce. Repeat two more times, finishing with meat sauce.
  • Sprinkle the top with remaining shredded mozzarella cheese.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, consider sautéing vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms with the ground beef. You can substitute lean turkey for the ground beef for a healthier option. Leftovers last in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or can be frozen for up to three months.
