Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract and orange zest.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture into the creamed mixture, alternating with orange juice and buttermilk until just combined.

Baking

  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.

Frosting and Assembly

  • Beat the softened butter for the frosting until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and orange juice until fluffy.
  • Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  • Decorate the cake with daisy flowers and yellow sprinkles.

Notes

Allowing the cake to chill enhances flavor. Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better blending.
