Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish generously.
  • In a mixing bowl, prepare the yellow cake mix as per the package instructions, whisking together the mix, eggs, and water until well combined and smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes.

Soaking

  • Poke holes all over the surface of the warm cake using the end of a wooden spoon.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce until smooth.
  • Carefully pour the caramel mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  • Let the cake cool completely at room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Topping

  • Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Spread the whipped cream over the chilled cake.
  • Sprinkle additional chopped pecans on top and drizzle with extra caramel sauce.
