Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Salmon fillets, 6 oz each Fresh and flaky, these fillets are the star of the dish.
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter, softened Adds creaminess and richness to the glaze.
  • 3 tablespoons White miso paste Provides a savory depth of flavor that enhances the dish.
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar Balances the saltiness of the miso with a touch of sweetness.
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh ginger, grated Brings warmth and zest to the glaze.
  • 1-2 cloves Garlic, minced Infuses the dish with aromatic goodness.
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, sliced thin Adds a fresh burst and color to your presentation.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix the softened butter with the white miso paste, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sliced green onions until all ingredients are well combined and you achieve a smooth, spreadable mixture.
  • Preheat your cooking appliance. For oven baking, preheat to 375°F. If using an air fryer, set it to 400°F.

Cooking

  • Place the salmon fillets on a baking dish or in your air fryer basket. Using a spatula, apply an equal portion of the miso butter mixture on top of each salmon fillet, spreading it evenly for full flavor coverage.
  • For oven: Bake the salmon fillets for 12-15 minutes, until they are opaque and flake easily with a fork. For a beautiful caramelized finish, broil the salmon on high for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • For air fryer: Line the basket with parchment or foil to avoid sticking. Cook the salmon for 9-10 minutes, checking for doneness.

Serving

  • Once cooked, serve the salmon on a large platter, drizzling any remaining miso butter over the top. Garnish with extra green onions and sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.

Notes

Always use fresh ingredients to enhance the taste of this dish. If you’re in a hurry, you can prepare the miso butter mixture in advance and store it in the fridge for a couple of days. For added depth of flavor, consider incorporating a splash of lemon juice or a pinch of red pepper flakes for a slight kick. If you prefer a thicker glaze, just increase the amount of miso and butter slightly. Experiment with other fish varieties or chicken if salmon isn’t available, adjusting cooking times as needed.
