  • 1 egg beaten egg for an enticing golden egg wash

For the Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened for a rich and creamy base
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for a whisper of sweetness
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract the aromatic essence that elevates flavors
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice adding a touch of brightness

For the Topping

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced, juicy and vibrant
  • 2 tbsp sugar to enhance the natural strawberry flavor
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice to help the strawberries shine

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 3-inch squares or rectangles.
  • In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
  • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square. Fold edges around the filling and brush with beaten egg.
  • In a small bowl, combine sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice; let sit for 10 minutes.

Baking

  • Arrange the pastries on the baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
  • Allow to cool slightly, then spoon strawberry mixture over each Danish.

Notes

Avoid using overly warm puff pastry. Let cream cheese reach room temperature for smooth mixing. Allow danishes to cool slightly before adding strawberries.
