Ingredients

For the Rice

  • 2 cups rice Perfectly fluffy and comforting, this rice serves as the foundation for the stack.
  • 3 cups chicken broth Adds depth and richness to the rice.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Gives a delightful umami kick.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds nuttiness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Elevates the rice flavor.

For the Beef

  • 1 pound boneless sirloin steak, thinly sliced Tender and juicy, it’s the star of this recipe.
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce Coats the beef beautifully.
  • 1/4 cup honey Balances out the flavors.
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger Brings warmth to the dish.

For Assembly

  • 1 avocado, sliced Creamy and rich, adds freshness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and liquid is absorbed. Fluff with a fork once cooked.
  • In a large skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium-high heat. Sauté the thinly sliced sirloin steak for about 3-4 minutes until nicely browned and cooked through.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, honey, and grated ginger. Pour this mixture over the cooked beef in the skillet and stir to coat. Allow it to simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Assembly

  • On a plate or bowl, layer a generous portion of cooked rice, followed by a layer of teriyaki beef, topped with sliced avocado. Repeat for each serving.

Serve

  • Serve immediately, garnishing with additional teriyaki sauce or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Consider marinating the steak in teriyaki sauce for a few hours before cooking. To add heat, include red pepper flakes in the sauce mix. Customize garnishes with scallions or sriracha as desired.
