  • 1 lb ground beef Choose higher fat content for richness.
  • 4 pieces burger buns Soft and slightly toasted.
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese Creamy and melty.
  • 4-6 pieces jalapeño peppers, sliced Provides a spicy kick.
  • 1/2 pieces red onion, sliced Adds crunch and flavor.
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise Brings a creamy base.
  • 2 tbsp ketchup Sweet and savory.

Preparation

  • Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and mix gently. Shape into 4 equally sized patties, approximately ¾ inch thick.
  • Preheat grill or skillet on medium heat.

Cooking

  • Cook the patties on one side for 4-5 minutes until browned.
  • Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar on each during the last minute of cooking.
  • In a separate pan, sauté the sliced jalapeños and red onions until softened and slightly golden.
  • Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Assembly

  • On the bottom bun, place fresh lettuce, followed by the cheeseburger patty, and top with sautéed jalapeños and onions.
  • Add a slice of tomato, drizzle with mayonnaise and ketchup, then close the burger with the top bun.
